Abstract

SALINAS-ARREORTUA, Luis Alberto  and  PARDO-MONTANO, Ana Melisa. Neoliberal urbanism in the sprawl of cities. The case of Mexico City. Bitácora Urbano Territorial [online]. 2018, vol.28, n.1, pp.113-119. ISSN 0124-7913.  https://doi.org/10.15446/bitacora.v28n1.57537.

A housing production model has been implemented in several Latin American countries in which housing policies are market-oriented, with the state as a central actor promoting demand through subsidies. From the notion of actually existing neoliberalism, the purpose of this research is to analyze the reform of Article 27 of the Constitution and the changes in housing policies and its implications in the recent sprawl of Mexico City. This is done through information obtained in the National Agrarian Registry, that allowed us to know the privatization process of ejidal land. As conclusions, it is established that both the constitutional reform and the housing policies encouraged the private promotion of housing in both privately owned land and ejidal land, so that it is the supply of housing and not the demand of the population, the factor that determines where the social interest housing its located.

Keywords : housing policy; constitutional reform; Mexico City; ejido land.
