Abstract
HERNANDEZ-MORENO, Silvério; HERNANDEZ-MORENO, José Antonio and ALCARAZ-VARGAS, Bianca G.. Low-carbon planning of megacities in Mexico. Bitácora Urbano Territorial [online]. 2019, vol.29, n.2, pp.49-58. Epub Aug 30, 2019. ISSN 0124-7913. https://doi.org/10.15446/bitacora.v29n2.69015.
The paper's objective is to identify the main challenges for low-carbon urban planning in Mexico from the recognition of the main effects of climate change in the population centers of the megalopolis of central Mexico and the review of partial advances in the State Programs for the Action before the Climatic Change of the States of the Mexican Republic. An initial proposal with strategies for the sustainable planning of low-carbon cities that integrate the different urban land uses with some of the rural type is made. The article concludes this proposal could serve as a starting point to contribute to the urban and rural reordering in the urban areas of greater conflicts that, in the opinion of the authors, are the megalopolises and, thus, to envision solutions for the improvement of the environment.
