Resumen

CORDOBA HERNANDEZ, Rafael  y  PEREZ GARCIA-BURGOS, Alfonso. Inclusive and resilient urbanization in informal settlements. Exemplification in Latin America and the Caribbean. Bitácora Urbano Territorial [online]. 2020, vol.30, n.2, pp.61-74. ISSN 0124-7913.  https://doi.org/10.15446/bitacora.v30n2.81767.

Some factors associated with informality can help to build inclusive cities. Recent increase in this informality, caused by increasing migration, makes it a priority to work on its adaptation to cities to reduce their vulnerability to more than probable future crisis situations. Thus, working to achieve Objective 11 of the SDGs would not only satisfy, as a matter of urgency, the needs of the displaced. It also facilitates their inclusion in those cities. To increase this aspect, is necessary the coexistence of three important factors: urban, social and economic inclusion. To expose this situation, an analysis of different exemplary practices of interventions in informalities carefully selected is show. Latin American and Caribbean selected cases share a transferability that goes beyond their methodologies or tools. These cases overcome the physical construction of the space, strengthening their community ties. It increases their current quality of life and could be essential to promote adaptability to future problems.

Palabras clave : urban inclusion; social inclusion; economic inclusion; informality; resilience.
