Type of study.

Study ethnographic and qualitative approach, applying the method of cross-cultural approach Madeleine Leininger.

Objective.

To describe the emotional experiences those accompany the act of coping newborn care for women with HIV positive experience within the cultural context of a city on the Montería Córdoba.

Methodology:

The ethical standards for human research were used, the views of the ten mothers interviewed were recorded and transcribed for further systematization.

Results:

HIV-positive mothers experience a range of negative feelings and emotions that arise from the triple situation of life stress coping as certain seropositivity own pregnancy/childbirth/post-partum and doubts by the HIV status of the newborn.

Conclusion.

The main type of coping is the defensive, emotional trigger seems to be the fear of censorship and social stigmatization, which extends as a continuous son and reflected in the act overprotective care with clear guidance.
