Abstract

Background:

Teen pregnancy is a public health problem that affects countries in the Americas region, which has led these governments to design and implement prevention strategies.

Objective:

To review the literature on strategies for prevention of adolescent pregnancy during the years 2011- 2015, in the region of the Americas.

Materials and Methods:

A narrative review of scientific literature is presented using sources, such as: Pubmed, Science Direct and Scielo.

Results:

Most studies were published between 2013 and 2014; the prevention of pregnancy in teenagers were most recommended intervention of psychosocial factors, implementation of public policies and family planning.

Conclusion:

Prevention strategies teen pregnancy in the region of the Americas had been focused mainly on education in sexual and reproductive health, psychosocial factors and intervention of family planning.
