NEME ARDILA, Linna Marcela; REYES ORTIZ, Óscar Javier  e  CAMACHO TAUTA, Javier Fernando. BEHAVIOR DENSE ASPHALT MIXTURES BY THE FÉNIX TEST. Cienc. Ing. Neogranad. [online]. 2013, vol.23, n.2, pp.17-36. ISSN 0124-8170.

ABSTRACT Asphalt mixtures are the most commonly used material in roads. Usually, mechanic tests to characterize them are expensive and time consuming. For this reason, it was studied the feasibility of using the Fenix test to evaluate Colombian asphalt mixtures elaborated under specifications of the Urban Development Institute  of Bogotá (IDU) and the Colombian National Roads Institute (INVIAS). The study began with the manufacture of specimens with different materials (aggregates, bitumen, asphaltite, reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP), lime and cement). Fenix test were carried out at 15 ° C and velocity of 1 mm/min. From the results of tensile strength, tensile stiffness index and energy index, elastic area and flow area, it was established that the Fenix is an effective, efficient, economical, fast and easy test to measure the mechanical and dynamical properties of the asphalt mixtures included in the research. Moreover, analyses of the load-displacement curves were very useful for all asphalt mixtures.
