YEPES GONZALEZ, Nelson; LOPEZ CASTANO, Esperanza; QUINTERO GUZMAN, Constanza e GONZALEZ BULLA, John Jairo. FACTORS THAT IMPACT THE SELECTION AND ESTABLISHMENT OF THE ISO/TS 16949 MANAGMENT SYSTEM: THE CASE OF THE AUTO PARTS INDUSTRY SECTOR IN BOGOTA. Cienc. Ing. Neogranad. [online]. 2014, vol.24, n.1, pp.143-162. ISSN 0124-8170.
By applying the ISO/TS 16949, automakers offer quality products and improve the services offered to customers. Since its early introduction, TS 16949 has found success within the industry due to its unification and harmonization with other existing standards. This article is an empirical study that was performed through a survey of 65 companies that belong to the auto parts industry in the city of Bogota (Colombia) that allowed to determine what the current state of implementation of the international standard is. This study also showed which factors have an impact on the level of implementation of this standard, such as little customer expectations, lack of advice received by companies, and the lack of interest shown by companies’ owners. The study highlights the need for greater ownership of the quality standard in the microenterprises and small companies in order to strengthen its adoption to improve the quality of products and services in the automotive sector.
