Resumen

MORENO ARBOLEDA, Francisco Javier; QUINTERO RENDON, Juan Esteban  y  RUEDA VASQUEZ, Robinson. A PERFORMANCE COMPARISON BETWEEN ORACLE AND MONGODB. Cienc. Ing. Neogranad. [online]. 2016, vol.26, n.1, pp.109-129. ISSN 0124-8170.  https://doi.org/10.18359/rcin.1669.

The growing and huge amount of data, of the order of exabytes, generated by current enterprise applications have originated massive datasets. Non-relational database management systems (DBMS) have emerged as an alternative to relational DBMS to manage these sets. Among the main non-relational DBMS is MongoDB. In this paper, we compare the performance between MongoDB and Oracle (one of the main DBMS that supports relational databases). The comparison is based on the CRUD operations (create, read, update, and delete). Although more exhaustive experiments and many other types of tests are required, the results give a starting point for the performance analysis of these DBMS.

Palabras clave : Databases; NoSQL databases; MongoDB; Oracle; performance.
