Abstract

BAZURTO CUBILLOS, Álvaro José; ZUNIGA BALANTA, Jefferson; ECHEVERRY, Diego Fernando  and  LOZANO, Carlos Arturo. PERSPECTIVE OF THE DISTRIBUTION TRANSFORMER IN ELECTRIC NETWORKS WITH HIGH PENETRATION OF DISTRIBUTED GENERATION AND ELECTRIC VEHICLES. Cienc. Ing. Neogranad. [online]. 2016, vol.26, n.2, pp.35-48. ISSN 0124-8170.  https://doi.org/10.18359/rcin.1710.

New challenges in the operation, management, and design of the distribution transformer are required due to the modernization of electricity networks. These challenges depend among other things on particular conditions as network topology, distributed generation, and penetration rates of the electric mobility technologies. In this paper, a state of the art of the potential impacts that distributed generation and electric vehicles may generate on the operation of the distribution transformer is developed. Major strategies used to mitigate potential negative impacts are also presented.

Keywords : smart grid; distributed generation; electric vehicles; V2G; smart transformer; distribution transformer.
