Abstract

PAZ PENAGOS, Hernán; UYUBAN, Jaime Andrés; NARVAEZ, Alan M.  and  FERRO ESCOBAR, Roberto. DEVELOPMENT AND TESTING OF A RADIO TELEMETRY SYSTEM FOR SEISMIC ACQUISITION. Cienc. Ing. Neogranad. [online]. 2017, vol.27, n.1, pp.111-130. ISSN 0124-8170.  https://doi.org/10.18359/rcin.1780.

Seismic prospecting methods are the main tool of exploration and characterization of hydrocarbons reservoirs, in any basin of our planet. The seismic reflection is available in three types of environments: marine, land and transition zones. Depending on the topography of the scanning area to be illuminated, systems interconnection lines can be wired or wireless to seismic acquisition. This article presents the results of the development and performance testing of a wireless network that interconnects the central station of record with three nodes, in a masterslave configuration and two-way transmission. Among such points spread a digital carrier signal that modulates signals base-band to detect the geophone vertical position and record of them. The results obtained were satisfactory, as reliable information was transmitted, taking advantage of mobility and easy installation terminals offering wireless networks; however, some drawbacks occurred at the low transmission rate (limited sampling rate), and loss of data by the scheme used for flow control and media access. This research experience allowed proposing an alternative interconnection front interconnection method for conventional cable used in the seismic exploration by reflection in Colombia.

Keywords : oil exploration; seismic reflection; wired network; geophone; wireless networks.
