As in many countries of Latin America, the economic development of Colombia is closely tied to the behavior of its foreign trade. Fluctuations in the terms of Exchange and import behavior determine the cycles of economic activity and the major turning points of the productive structure of the country. This research aims to analyze the main determinants of the behaviour of imports Colombian in a period of 16 years, 2000-2016 through the exploration of economic theory and the implementation of an econometric model under the method of estimating Log - Log, emphasis on the consideration of the existence of a long-term relationship between the demand for imports with the real gross domestic product and real exchange rate. The results obtained through the study indicate that the Colombian imports are determined by the gross domestic product and the Real Exchange rate who allow explain the variations of the imports into the country
