Abstract

The study aims to strengthen the innovation capacities of the food and beverage production sector of the municipality of Pasto to achieve the economic reactivation of the region; hence the need to characterize the innovation of the food and beverage production sector in the municipality of Pasto. The research is part of the positivist paradigm, with a quantitative approach, descriptive-analytical type of research, to obtain the results, the SPSS statistical software was applied. The population is made up of 17 companies in the food and beverage production sector registered in the Pasto Chamber of Commerce in 2021, to whom a survey aimed at managers was applied. Among the results, it was found that the majority of the companies present economic activity 1081 that corresponds to the production of bakery products, the vast majority of companies limited by shares and micro-enterprises, they do not have an area of ​​innovation. As conclusions, it was obtained that organizations do not specialize in innovation processes, there is no allocation of resources, nor expert personnel in this area, therefore, the culture of innovation is deficient and they even consider that innovating constitutes an expense and not a investment.
