CASTANEDA COLORADO, Marcelo; DUQUE QUINTERO, Mónica; GALVIS GOEZ, Rubén Darío  y  CORREA CARDONA, Héctor Jairo. NITROGEN FERTILIZATION EFFECT AND CUT AGE ON THE In vitro INTESTINAL DIGESTIBILITY OF KIKUYO GRASS (Pennisetum clandestinum Hochst) PROTEIN. Rev. Fac. Nac. Agron. Medellín [online]. 2008, vol.61, n.2, pp.4646-4653. ISSN 0304-2847.

With the purpose of evaluating the effect of the nitrogen fertilization and cut age on the In vitro intestinal digestibility of kikuyo grass (Pennisetum clandestinum Hochst) protein, 16 plots were made, everyone assigned one of the following treatments (four plots per treatment): T1 (30 cut -day and 0 kg/ N/ Ha/ cut), T2 (60 cut-day and 0 kg/ N/ Ha/ cut), T3 (60 cut-day and 50 kg/ N/ Ha/ cut) and T4 (30 cut-day and 50kg/ N/ Ha/ cut).  120 days after the treatment, 5 sub-samples were harvested of each plot, which were defined as final samples for each plot and, were realized to these samples a ruminal degradability trial for 16 hours and In vitro three-step method of intestinal protein digestibility trial.  There didn't was effect by the cut age neither the nitrogen fertilization on the crude protein of kikuyo grass.  The intestinal digestibility expressed in percentage of the non-degradable rumen protein were 52.51% and 56.14% for no-fertilized plots with a cut age of 30 and 60 days respectively, and 43.38% and 45.40% for fertilized plots with a cut age of 30 and 60 days respectively.

Palabras clave : In vitro three step method; forage; nutritional valuation.
