Resumen

SANTOS CASTELLANOS, Marcela; SEGURA ABRIL, Mariela  y  NUSTEZ LOPEZ, Carlos Eduardo. GROWTH ANALYSIS AND SOURCE-SINK RELATIONSHIP OF FOUR POTATO CULTIVARS (SOLANUM TUBEROSUM L.) IN THE ZIPAQUIRA TOWN (CUNDINAMARCA, COLOMBIA). Rev. Fac. Nac. Agron. Medellín [online]. 2010, vol.63, n.1, pp.5253-5266. ISSN 0304-2847.

The research was carried out with the potato cultivars Pastusa Suprema, Betina, Esmeralda and Diacol Capiro. The aim was to compare growth and source-sink relationship of these cultivars during the growing season. Leaf area and dry matter variables were evaluated for each cultivar and obtained the growth rates and the source-sink strength. At the growth rates were found similarities between the Esmeralda and Betina cultivars, both in the occurrence of the minimum values as the maximum values of these rates during the crop cycle. Betina, Esmeralda and Diacol Capiro cultivars presented the highest values of leaf area ratio (LAR) in the fourth week after emergence and also had the lowest leaf area duration (LAD) during the crop cycle, while the Pastusa Suprema cultivar showed the greatest longevity of leaves. The maximum leaf area index (LAI) occurred in the full flowering stage and minimum LAI at the end of the growing cycle. The Esmeralda cultivar had the highest net assimilation rate (NAR) at the end of the cycle. The higher source strength was reached by Esmeralda and Pastusa Suprema, and the higher sink strength for tubers was found in Betina and Esmeralda cultivars, indicating a greater filling of tubers.
