Abstract

RODRIGUEZ CAICEDO, Daniel; RICO TELLEZ, Marcela Sofía; RODRIGUEZ MOLANO, Luis Ernesto  and  NUSTEZ LOPEZ, Carlos Eduardo. EFFECT OF DIFFERENT LEVELS AND TIMES OF DEFOLIATION ON THE POTATO YIELD (SOLANUM TUBEROSUM CV. PARDA PASTUSA). Rev. Fac. Nac. Agron. Medellín [online]. 2010, vol.63, n.2, pp.5521-5531. ISSN 0304-2847.

The effect of four defoliation levels was studied (20, 40, 60 and 80%), in three times of crop’s development (90, 120 and 150 days after sowing (das)) on the tuber yield in Parda Pastusa cv. with the objective of analyzing in simulated form the effect of the damage in leaves caused by deseases or insects on the yield. Plants without damage were used like witness. The research was carried out in ICA San Jorge Research Center, located in Soacha (Cundinamarca) to 3200 masl and the commercial tuber yield was evaluated. The results demonstrated that decrease is not presented in the tuber yield for none of the evaluated defoliation levels when it is carried out at the 90 or the 150 das. On the contrary, when it is carried out to the 120 das and in a bigger level or similar to 40%, important decrease is generated in the tuber yield.

Keywords : Foliar damage; tuber; andigena; yield.
