Abstract

GONZALEZ DIAZ, Seidel; SOTOLONGO SOSPEDRA, Rogelio; LEON SANCHEZ, María Amparo  and  GONGORA ROJAS, Fidel. Incidence of the Modification Semicaducifolio Forest on Orchid in Sierra of the Rosario Candelaria, Cuba. Rev. Fac. Nac. Agron. Medellín [online]. 2014, vol.67, n.2, pp.7355-7363. ISSN 0304-2847.  https://doi.org/10.15446/rfnam.v67n2.44177.

The incidence of structural modification of the semi-deciduous forest by human activity is a problem rarely studied in Cuba. For this reason, it is necessary to evaluate the relationship of the Reserve Biofera with existing surrounding woodlots in the province of Artemisa. Sampling of woody species and orchids in 17 plots with the mixed method was performed. Samples were validated with the Curve Collector ecological method. Wealth and similarity index of woody species as well as its index of ecological importance, frequency and distribution of orchid species and the percentage occupied by orchids were determined. The canonical correspondence analysis yielded information on the relationship between the studied species and selected environmental variables, thereby demonstrated that modifying forest structure, if it affects the landscape orchid populations studied.

Keywords : Anthropization; handling of forest specie; conservation; ornamentals.
