Abstract

Here we report the use of medicinal plants among the inhabitants of Tunja, Chíquiza, Cómbita, Oicata, Sora, Soracá in the department of Boyacá (Colombia) by a survey of 600 people that expressed to have knowledge of the use of these plants. Forty five species of medical importance were recognized in the region derived from different questions asked on the use of plant species known to be of medical importance in the area. Likewise we performed an investigation by participative action within the communities looking for a summary of popular knowledge and the rescue of the traditional use of medicinal plants that the grandparents possess and that is transmitted from generation to generation.
