Abstract
DIAZ-N., Juan F. and GOMEZ-LAVERDE, Marcela. COMMENTS ABOUT THE FIRST RECORD OF MICOUREUS ALSTONI (ALLEN, 1900) (DIDELPHIMORPHIA: DIDELPHIDAE) FOR COLOMBIA. Actu Biol [online]. 2007, vol.29, n.87, pp.235-240. ISSN 0304-3584.
In 2004, Cuartas-Calle reported the first record for Colombia of a small mouse opossum part of the former genus Marmosa, Micoureus alstoni (Mammalia: Didelphimorphia). This author based his identification and record on a juvenile specimen from Chocó Department. Based on the analysis of relevant literature and Cuartas-Calle's description and illustrations of that juvenile specimen, we conclude that this is not the first record of this species for Colombia, and the juvenile specimen reported by Cuartas-Calle can not be positively identified as Micoureus alstoni due to its juvenile stage.
