A quantification and comparison among Use Values of trees in western Colombian Amazonia is presented. Applicability and usefulness of available methods for Use Value quantification are discussed. We concluded that Use Value is limited in the expression of real species usefulness and their importance for communities, and also is of limited usefulness as a tool to prioritize species or areas for conservation and some standardization and adaptation of this method is suggested.
