A taxonomic study of the Peruvian and Bolivian species of the genus Schwartzia of the Neotropical family Marcgraviaceae is presented. Schwartzia is represented in the Peruvian Flora by two species (one species is endemics), while in Bolivia only there is one species. Keys to recognize the species of Schwartzia that inhabit Peru and Bolivia are given, as well as descriptions of the species, synonymy, illustrations, geographical distribution, and morphological and ecological observations. On the other hand, the lectotypification for Schwartzia magnifica is presented.
