Abstract

VELEZ-ARANGO, JUAN GONZALO  and  COGOLLO-PACHECO, ÁLVARO. First record of the genus Sapranthus (Annonaceae) and a new species for South America. Caldasia [online]. 2007, vol.29, n.2, pp.229-233. ISSN 0366-5232.

Sapranthus isae is described and illustrated. This new species differs from its congeners by its fragrant flowers and the black elliptic bodies present on the base of the internal petals. The new species is only known from rocky outcrops in northern Colombia (Cesar Deparment, municipality of Curumaní), surrounded by swampy areas.
