Abstract

AMAT-GARCIA, GERMÁN  and  REYES-CASTILLO, PEDRO. The passalid beetles (Coleoptera: Scarabaeoidea: Passalidae) from Amazonas Department, Colombia. Caldasia [online]. 2007, vol.29, n.2, pp.329-354. ISSN 0366-5232.

Twenty four passalid beetle species are reported. This study is based on field collections and revision of 167 specimens collected in Amazonian area of Colombia and deposited in two Colombian and one Mexican collection. Illustrations, taxonomic diagnosis and comments about geographical distribution and taxonomy are included. Physiographic and land heterogeneity, as a result of forest transformation, affect the distributional patterns of species. Finally, ecological and geographic distributions are commented upon.
