Abstract

MONTOYA MORENO, YIMMY. Morphometric characterization of a tropical fluviolacustrine system, Antioquia, Colombia. Caldasia [online]. 2008, vol.30, n.2, pp.413-420. ISSN 0366-5232.

Bathymetric and morphometric characteristics of a shallow tropical lake are described and theoretical predictions derived from morphometric parameters and shape elements. This system is twenty-five years old and is characterized by low relative and maximum depth (8m), the same as a small area (A = 0.0041 Km2), slightly dendritic (F = 1.77), with a convex shape having no inflection point (Cx). Wind flow follows the main direction of the lake (E-W), and wind action isassociated with the high stability of the water column (Dr = 11%); these factors contribute toa polymictic-type mixed pattern.

Keywords : Lakes; physical tropical limnology; morphometric; morphology.
