Abstract

SANTOS-C., GUILLERMO  and  AGUIRRE-C., JAIME. Mosses from Las Quinchas (Middle Magdalena, Colombia). Caldasia [online]. 2010, vol.32, n.2, pp.257-273. ISSN 0366-5232.

The floristic composition and substrate selectivity of mosses along an altitudinal gradient (270-1450 m) in Las Quinchas, Magdalena Medio (Colombia) were studied. Ninety nine species, 58 genera and 29 families were recorded, most of them pleurocarps (70%). The highest species richness was found in the Tropical life zone (270-1000 m). The epiphytic habit (62.7% of the mosses collected) was predominant over the saxicolous and terrestrial habits. The results were compared with those obtained from similar altitudinal regions of the country.

Keywords : Mosses; Magdalena Medio; life zones; substrate; diversity.
