In this paper we studied the diatom taxa from lentic waterbodies located in the Department of Córdoba, northwestern Colombia. Samples were examined with light and scanning electron microscopy. The studied taxa belong to the Orders Thalassiosirales (1 species), Cymbellales (4), Achnanthales (3) y Naviculales (7). Four of them are recorded for the first time in the country; these taxa and those that were only mentioned in checklists for the country are described. All studied taxa are accompanied with information about the environmental characteristics of the sites where they were collected. A comparison with the diatom flora of the Colombian Amazonia showed that there are several taxa in common, probably due to the low altitude of the study sites, shallow waters, pH slightly acidic and low to medium trophic level.
