Abstract

TAMARIS-TURIZO, CESAR; RODRIGUEZ-BARRIOS, JAVIER  and  OSPINA-TORRES, RODULFO. Aquatic macroinvertebrates drif along of the Gaira river, northwestern side of the sierra nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia. Caldasia [online]. 2013, vol.35, n.1, pp.149-163. ISSN 0366-5232.

During the months from March to June 2008, four sampling in three sites of Gaira river was made: upper part (1700 masl), middle (900 masl) and lower (50 masl). The density and biomass of macroinvertebrates during a diary cycle were evaluated. Diptera (15.15 Ind. m3), Ephemeroptera (8.46 Ind. m3) and Trichoptera (2.70 Ind. m3) were the taxon that presented values highly of drift density. In general, the increase of rainfall as results decreases of density and biomass of macroinvertebrates. During the diary cycle the density and biomass of drift not showed difference significant. However, during day Hours a tendency on increase of density and biomass drift were reported.

Keywords : Drif; biomass; aquatic macroinvertebrates; Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
