Abstract
MERCADO-GOMEZ, JORGE D.; JIMENEZ-BULLA, LUIS CARLOS and SANCHEZ-MONTANO, LUIS ROBERTO. Pollen of Magnoliopsida in El Volcán (Pamplona, Colombia) II: families Hypericaceae, Lamiaceae, Lobeliaceae, Melastomataceae, Polygonaceae, Rhamnaceae, Rosaceae, Rubiaceae, Scrophulariaceae and Solanaceae. Caldasia [online]. 2013, vol.35, n.2, pp.409-427. ISSN 0366-5232.
We studied and illustrated the pollen morphology of the species belonging to the families Hypericaceae, Lamiaceae, Lobeliaceae, Melastomataceae, Polygonaceae, Rhamnaceae, Rosaceae, Rubiaceae, Scrophulariaceae and Solanaceae, found in El Volcán (Pamplona, Colombia). Observations, descriptions and microphotography of pollen grains were done using light microscopy, counting a minimum of 25 pollen grains per species. All families exhibited an euripalynous condition, except Melastomataceae that is stenopalynous. Variations in pollen morphology were observed in some species that are also found in other high Andean forests and Páramos from the Central and Occidental Cordilleras.
