The Batrachoididae family has three subfamilies, 23 genera and approximately 83 species around the world, of which fifteen are present in Colombian waters. The species Daector gerringi, endemic to the Colombian Eastern Pacific, has been reported in the department of Chocó, specifically in the rivers San Juan, Baudó and recently in the department of Valle del Cauca in Bahia Malaga. This work documents the first register for the species in the Buenaventura Bay, Valle del Cauca, and represents the record size for the species.
