Abstract

The new species, named Sciodaphyllum sonsonense, is found in the high Andean forest of the northern part of the Central Cordillera in Antioquia, Colombia. The new taxon shares some morphological features with S. huilense and S. pubens, but differs among other characters, in having a whitish and bifid ligule 1/3 to 2/3 of its total length. The description and illustration of S. sonsonense is accompanied by the map of distribution, notes of habitat, table of taxonomic affinities, and photographs.
