Abstract

HERNANDEZ-GALLEGOS, Oswaldo; LOPEZ-MORENO, Ana Esthela  and  PEREZ-PEREZ, Ailed. Depredación masiva del sapo de pinos, Incilius occidentalis (Anura: Bufonidae). Caldasia [online]. 2019, vol.41, n.2, pp.450-452. ISSN 0366-5232.  https://doi.org/10.15446/caldasia.v41n2.69735.

Anurans are subject to large scale prédation during congregation at breeding sites by mammalian species. Massive predation of Incilius occidentalis was recorded. Individuals were characterized by lacking viscera and appendages; however, the head and parotid glands remained intact. It is suggested that this event occurred by the predator Procyon lotor.

Keywords : Anurans; predator-prey; Procyon lotor.
