GOMEZ, Persy et al. Forest variables associated to the occurrence of the endemic pulmonate Macrocyclis peruvianus (black snail) from the Maule Region of central Chile. Caldasia [online]. 2020, vol.42, n.2, pp.306-312. ISSN 0366-5232.  https://doi.org/10.15446/caldasia.v42n2.82848.

In many terrestrial mollusks the relationships between their abundance and habitat characteristics are still unknown. In this work, we report relationships between vegetation type and microsite conditions and the occurrence of the endemic terrestrial snail Macrocyclis peruvianus (black snail) in the Maule Region of central Chile. Our results show that the endangered tree Nothofagus alessandrii, as well as the hygro-philic forests of the central Chile would be habitat sites for M. peruvianus, highlighting the importance of protecting this forest for the survival of this mollusk.
