DAVALOS-M, Aldo; NAJAR-S, Jorge Antonio  e  CRUZ-S, Daniel. Predation of Spea multiplicata (Anura: Scaphiopodidae) by Diadophis punctatus (Squamata: Dipsadidae) in a cropland in western Mexico. Caldasia [online]. 2020, vol.42, n.2, pp.333-335. ISSN 0366-5232.  https://doi.org/10.15446/caldasia.v42n2.78781.

Diadophis punctatus is a snake that has a wide distribution in North America. Although its natural history has been widely studied in the United States of America, very little is known about its diet in Mexico. On October 30th 2018, we received an individual of Diadophis punctatus that regurgitated an undigested Spea multiplicata. This is the first record of the predator-prey interaction between these two species and contributes valuable information about its natural history. We also present a revision of the prey of D. punctatus and the predators of S. multiplicata.

Palavras-chave : Natural history; perturbated area; Ringneck snake; spadefoot toad.
