We discuss the effect of interfaces on different physical properties in artificially grown materials when their dimensions are in the nanometer scale. Specifically we present results of magnetic properties in ferromagnetic / antiferromagnetic bilayers based on calcium doped lanthanum manganite perovskite oxide; mechanical and corrosive properties in TiN/ZrN and HfN/VN superlattices.
