Abstract

We present the complete description of the endemic tree of Perú known as zapotillo rosado, (Phragmotheca sidereotrica Fern. Alonso, Malvaceae), based on the latest collections studied, whose material is in the following herbaria: AMAZ, COL, HOXA, HSP, MA, MO, MOL and USM. We documented its habitat, ecology, distribution and categorization according to IUCN, and we present a distribution map with the new registered localities, all in the Department of Pasco, Province of Oxapampa, Districts of Palcazú and Puerto Bermúdez, Perú. We include photographs of its flowers and fruits, as well as a key to differentiate the four genera of fleshy fruits of the tribe Matisieae present in Perú. © 2017. Acad. Colomb. Cienc. Ex. Fis.
