ORREGO-MEZA, Juan Guillermo et al. Diversity of aquatic macroinvertebrates in the National Natural Park Selva de Florencia, Colombia. Rev. acad. colomb. cienc. exact. fis. nat. [online]. 2020, vol.44, n.171, pp.560-571.  Epub 12-Jun-2021. ISSN 0370-3908.  https://doi.org/10.18257/raccefyn.1027.

Freshwater ecosystems are a primary source of ecosystem services essential for the maintenance of life. The biodiversity of aquatic insects in these ecosystems is significant. Considering the limited information about aquatic entomofauna in Colombian national parks, our objective was to evaluate the diversity of aquatic insects in the National Natural Park Selva de Florencia, located in the northwestern region of Colombia. We collected the aquatic macroinvertebrates in three selected microbasins of the park (La Selva, Las Mercedes, and Chupaderos). The sampled specimens were deposited in the CEBUC collection and, subsequently, we analyzed their diversity, composition, and richness. A total of 534 individuals represented in 10 orders, 41 genera and 57 morphospecies of aquatic insects were collected. All genera reported in this study are new records for the PNNSF and we documented four new species of Ephemeroptera, three of which are still being described. The greatest richness and diversity were found on La Selva stream with 20 exclusive taxa, among which we can mention Dryops, Gyretes, Anchytarsus, Diochus, Limnocoris, Hebrus y Thraulodes after the composition analyses. The new species and records for the park demonstrate the importance of expanding research on aquatic entomofauna in the area to facilitate future studies on the region's ecology (included biomonitoring programs), systematics, and biogeography.
