Abstract

BUENO-SANCHEZ, Juan C.; ORJUELA-QUINTANA, John Bayron  and  VALENZUELA-TOLEDO, César A.. On the coupling of vector fields to the Gauss-Bonnet invariant. Rev. acad. colomb. cienc. exact. fis. nat. [online]. 2021, vol.45, n.174, pp.67-82.  Epub Sep 12, 2021. ISSN 0370-3908.  https://doi.org/10.18257/raccefyn.1146.

Inflationary models including vector fields have attracted e greet deal of attention over the past decade. Such en interest owes to the fact that they might contribute to, or even be fully responsible for, the curvature perturbation imprinted in the cosmic microwave background. However, the necessary breaking of the vector fields conformal invariance during inflation is not without problems. In recent years, it has been realized that a number of instabilities endangering the consistency of the theory arise when the conformal invariance is broken by means of a non-minimal coupling to gravity. In this paper, we consider a massive vector field non-minimelly coupled to gravity through the Gauss-Bonnet invariant, end investigate whether the vector can play the role of a curveton while evading the emergence of instabilities end preserves the large-scale isotropy.

Keywords : inflation; statistical enisotropy; vector field models; Gauss-Bonnet invariant.
