PENATE-CARRANZA, Brayan; TAMARIS-TURIZO, Cesar E. e LUNA-FONTALVO, Jorge A.. Ingoldian fungi of the middle section of the Gaira River, Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia. Rev. acad. colomb. cienc. exact. fis. nat. [online]. 2021, vol.45, n.174, pp.208-216. Epub 18-Set-2021. ISSN 0370-3908. https://doi.org/10.18257/raccefyn.1277.
Aquatic hyphomycetes are microscopic fungi that have been poorly studied in tropical rivers. These fungi play an important role in the decomposition of vegetable matter within lotic ecosystems. The objective of this work was to identify the aquatic hyphomycetes of the middle section of the Gaira River (northern Colombia). We analyzed qualitative samples of the river foam and submerged leaves from three dominant native plant species of the study area (Ficus tonduzii, Zygia longifolia, and Clusia multiflora). Ten genera and four species were identified: Diplocladiella scalaroides, Heliscus submersus, Alatospora acuminate, and Flabellospora crassa. This is the first record of the genera Diplocladiella, Triscelophorus, Actinospora, Lemonniera, Alatospora, Flabellospora, and Heliscus in the Gaira River. Our results showed the lack of sampling effort for this biological group in the middle part of the Gaira River in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
