Abstract

CAICEDO-ORTIZ, Hernando Efraín  and  CASTANEDA-FERNANDEZ, Héctor Osvaldo. Electron density in giant H II regions. Rev. acad. colomb. cienc. exact. fis. nat. [online]. 2021, vol.45, n.177, pp.989-1010.  Epub Feb 23, 2022. ISSN 0370-3908.  https://doi.org/10.18257/raccefyn.1464.

The electron density on a global and point-to-point scale of Hubble V and Hubble X giant H II regions, located in the galaxy NGC 6822, was studied using long-slit spectroscopy in the visible spectrum. The results obtained present for the first time a measure of the spatial variation of the electron density of these two giant h II regions, showing that they have an inhomogeneous behavior in their density at the local level as well as a low-density regime at the global level, and verifying that the electronic temperature has a low incidence in its determination.

Keywords : Electron density; Giant HII Regions; NGC 6822; Hubble V; Hubble X.
