Abstract

TORRES-SANCHEZ, Horacio. Synergy in the basic sciences for the solution of engineering problems. Rev. acad. colomb. cienc. exact. fis. nat. [online]. 2022, vol.46, n.180, pp.646-655.  Epub Sep 18, 2023. ISSN 0370-3908.  https://doi.org/10.18257/raccefyn.1747.

Apparently, water hammer phenomena, electromagnetic surges, the theory of general relativity, and the mathematical solution of a traveling wave are problems of engineering and basic science theories unrelated to each other. However, a historical examination shows the importance of joint action in the physics and mathematics disciplines to offer engineering solutions, in other words, the synergy of basic sciences for the resolution of engineering problems.

Keywords : Traveling waves; Electromagnetic phenomenon of surges; Water hammer; General theory of relativity.
