Abstract

PIZARRO, CYNTHIA. "CITIZENS OF BUENOS AIRES-BOLIVIA": BI-NATIONAL POLITICAL ACTIVISM IN AN ORGANIZATION OF BOLIVIAN IMMIGRANTS LIVING IN ARGENTINA. Rev. colomb. antropol. [online]. 2009, vol.45, n.2, pp.431-467. ISSN 0486-6525.

This paper analyzes the way in which the political activism developed within an organization of Bolivian migrants living in Argentina build a bi-national political space. It means a scenario where those migrants where recognized as citizens by authorities of different levels both Bolivian and Argentinean. The argument lies in a ethnographic description that covers the structure of political opportunities that facilitates the construction of this space, the characteristics of the Bolivian migration in the north of the Metropolitan Area of the City of Buenos Aires, the trajectory of the organization in relation to the local political scenario and the conformation of alliances between the authorities of different Argentine state levels (local, regional, national) based in political parties affinities. Finally, there is a discussion about the relevance that the migratory question has gained in the recent years in Argentina and Bolivia
