An area of 5.76 km² between the Sogamoso and Duitama Valleys was systematically surveyed. The study identified few and dispersed remains from prehispanic and colonial activities. The results suggested that at least a small part of the prehispanic and colonial population conducted everyday activities in remote, hard-to-reach areas with low human density. This evidence indicated that future archeological projects develop in the Eastern Highlands should consider that places labeled as inaccessible areas may have archaeological evidence.
