Abstract

DELGADO, Miguel. A Synopsis of the Archaeological and Bioanthropological Research of the Early Peopling of Northwest South America. Rev. colomb. antropol. [online]. 2017, vol.53, n.1, pp.213-239. ISSN 0486-6525.

Colombia is a key area for the study of the initial human peopling of South America given its geographical position and ecological and cultural diversity. Recent advances in archaeological research as well as in the study of molecular diversity and in the analysis of prehispanic bone remains using statistical methods, population approaches, and more robust theories warrant a review. This paper presents an overview of the archaeological and bioanthropological research of the early peopling of Colombia and discuses some issues related with such process.

Keywords : early peopling; archaeology; bioanthropology; Colombia.
