Wayuu are a binational indigenous people who claim to have no borders. Its transnational movement keeps Wayuu nation active, feeding on daily actions that build what I call Wayuu mobile sovereignty. This article is the result of an ethnography that analyzes the Wayuu conception of time (and space) and the way in which this gives life to the Wayuu nation and its sovereign claims, based on three cases: dreams and the construction of the person; transnational trade and local elections. The past is constantly brought up as a historical justification of the Wayuu nation, which updates and survives with it, transforming the hegemonic linear temporal conception (past-present-future).
