Thermal stability of a centenary Sillar building (ignimbrita) in a cold desert climate. Goyeneche Hospital. Rev. Arquit. (Bogotá) [online]. 2023, vol.25, n.2, pp.80-91.  Epub 23-Ene-2024. Ashlar (ignimbrite) is a common material within the buildings of the historic center of the city of Arequipa-Peru, one of them is the Goyeneche centennial hospital, considered Cultural Heritage and one of the reference centers that provides care of medium complexity; its state is deteriorating, before it is necessary to calculate its thermal behavior; having as objective to evaluate the coefficient of thermal stability, the damping and phase shift of the thermal wave in a hospitalization room with 80 cm thick ashlar walls; for this there were studies that found the thermal conductivity in modules of ashlar edge and rope, comparing it with other materials. The methodology with a qualitative approach consisted of monitoring the outside and inside temperature in winter until the end of spring (June-November 2018). It was determined that the average thermal stability coefficient was 0.30, obtaining a damping of 70 % of external temperature fluctuations in a dry-desert-cold climate with fluctuations that reach up to 26 °C, with damping of the average thermal wave. of 6.07 °C and an average thermal wave lag of 3h.20 min, due to the thermal mass of the building. Concluding that, being the room is made of a very old native material, in a climate with large temperature differences between day and night, it presented adequate thermal behavior due to its high thermal mass with respect to its thermal stability.
