Abstract
ARGUELLO C., Ricardo. International crisis and poverty in Colombia: short term effects. Perf. de Coyunt. Econ. [online]. 2010, n.15, pp.9-32. ISSN 1657-4214.
A computable general equilibrium model is used to estimate the short term effects of the international economic crisis on households' income in Colombia. The objective of the research is to inquire whether the results arising from the model prove being consistent with recent findings, based on microdata, that indicate that the crisis has had positive impacts on low income households and has helped marginally improve income distribution. The results are indeed consistent with such findings, providing a valuable validation of the use of general equilibrium models for the study of this type of phenomena.
