ROMERO, Elizabeth  e  SALINAS, Daniel. Labor supply and the role of international remittances: a case study for the Colombian coffee region. Perf. de Coyunt. Econ. [online]. 2010, n.15, pp. 97-117. ISSN 1657-4214.

Colombian diaspora at the end of the last decade in response to the economic situation the country was facing, caused some changes within the labor market that are significantly important nowadays. The paper presents an evaluation of the potential effects international migration has, through remittances, on labor participationin Colombian coffee zone - Midwestern Metropolitan Area (AMCO)-. The results from the econometric exercises support the conclusion that within the AMCO zone, remittances have a significant impact over the decision to participate in the labor market. Specially, poor households are more dependent on remittances and have a lower participation rate in labor force while decisions to participate for individuals in households with higher income are not dependant on remittances.
