The provision of the health services in Colombia is having a crisis that surges from different causes. This crisis has got to many academic and popular manifestations against EPS's intermediation, and even there have been a proposal for abolish the Law 100 of 1993 and convert the State in the only insurer and direct payer of the Health System services that Colombian population demands. According to the proponents, the reasons for this proposal obey fundamentally to two situations: the role of simple financial intermediation that have played and the high costs, which finally means an absurd reduction of the resources that must be destined to the essential objective of the Health System, instead of become in juicy profits for the EPS.
