Antioquia is one of Colombia's departments most affected by the internal armed conflict, the number of victims, for example, in June 2013 was 1'050.593, most of them coming from the rural sector. Hence the interest to reach a peace agreement in Havana, Cuba. The article analyzes the rural sector in Antioquia and compares it negotiated with the FARC. Displays the historical relationship between the armed conflict and the rural sector, current socioeconomic problems diagnosed in the department sector, presents the main issues raised in the first point of the agenda for peace and finally leaves for discussion raised some issues need to be addressed in the development of the rural sector in the region.
