Resumen

PARRA ROZO, Omar. THE DISEASE ACCOUNT: NARRATIVE BIOETHICS AND CARE. rev.latinoam.bioet. [online]. 2014, vol.14, n.1, pp.48-61. ISSN 1657-4702.

The care, the object of study of nursing, is a process that requires the narrative mediation to achieve efficiency or, at least, to have key elements to support it. Actors: nurse, patient and context investigate and try to respond to basic needs and the references that are narrated from the body and from the disease. Science and technology come together to storytelling, media and mediations establish and enrich communication and dialogue necessary for interaction. Most of the time, the way to say, to communicate and receive messages implies symbolic metaphors that ironically try to evade reality and turn to the same fact, illness and care. A thorough review of the literature on bioethics and the intricacies of the cycle of life in relation to the disease, care, narrative and science show testimonies and major investigations that impact on the problem area and reinforce the basic approach that human beings have the urgent need to narrate and respond to it appropriately, effectively and efficiently.

Palabras clave : Bioethics; nursing; narrative; illness; nursing.
