The paper presents the main results of the research: "Perception of informed consent in patients from four different areas of health care in Bogota, Colombia," conducted between February 2013 and January 2014. Therefore, we sought to determine the perceptions and experiences regarding the informed consent process in patients from four different fields of health care in the city of Bogotá. The study was conducted in two phases 1 - literature review and 2 - perception, a descriptive cross-sectional study , including Among the categories of analysis; collection of information, communication , benefits, risks and conditions of care for decision making. It is set that verbal and written procedures exist to inform and take permission to patients regarding different clinical activities in health, but respondents report problems in the process in terms of perception of information, verbal and written exercise the will to decide, communication, time to carry out the process of health professional relationship - patient, differential treatment of information according to procedures and health sciences. Although ownership of the subject is seen by patients and institutions, it seems necessary to continue incorporating institutional dynamics and social aspects to improve attention span , coverage , quality and timeliness of care and information - communication , process qualification professional patient relationship , increased confidence, exercise of citizenship and participation in health and disease processes.
